Northwestern closing in on school's first NCAA hoop tournament

A few years back Bill Carmody’s Northwestern teams flirted with Top 25 rankings and posted two 20-win seasons. Anticipation heated up that Wildcats might earn an NCAA bid for the first time in school history.

The 2009-10 team earned the school’s first Top 25 ranking since 1969. The Wildcats cracked the Associated Press poll on Dec. 28, 2009 at No. 25. That began the NCAA talk on the way to the first 20-win season in school history. ... c
