Early Holiday Bowls featured capacity crowds and dramatic finishes

San Diego’s Holiday Bowl can thank Brigham Young for its early success, rapid growth and pronounced stature in its 39th year. Now, San Diego is able to pay back BYU at a time when the Cougars need San Diego as much as San Diego needed the school in olden days.

The early Holiday Bowl featured dramatic finishes with BYU winning some and losing others before capacity crowds. In the 1984 Holiday Bowl, the Cougars beat Michigan for the 1984 national title. ...
