Brian Piccolo Award extends beyond football

Maybe the ACC should honor its courage award in the name of both Brian Piccolo and Darryl Hill

The Atlantic Coast Conference honoring Pitt’s James Conner as winner of the Brian Piccolo Award was a no-brainer. The Piccolo Award is awarded to “the most courageous” player in the ACC, but Conner also is worthy of any such national award.

In 2014, Conner was a the ACC’s leading rusher and an All-American pick, but the comebacks he faced is 2016 were more than recovering from a season-ending knee injury suffered in the 2015 opener. In the process of the examinations to prepare for reconstructive knee surgery, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. ...
