Big East split has favored new Big East over the AAC in hoop

The American Athletic Conference each week pointed to examples of football success to argue for the AAC’s involvement in a Power 6 along with the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12.

The reasons are debatable, but the conference can make a stronger case of late in football than it can as a national player in the NCAA basketball tournament. ...
